Best Time to visit the Taj Mahal

The best season to visit Agra is definately in November, when the weather is just right, its not too cold and extremely pleasant. Since going to Agra means soaking in the rich history of the city, good weather makes it all the more enjoyable. Summers here are extreme and tropical, with the mercury going up to as high as 45º Celsius or 113º Fahrenheit. So, it is advisable that one avoids the extreme hot summers (April-June) and rainy season (July-Sept). Thus, the most suitable time to visit Agra, the city of the Taj Mahal, is during winters.

As far as visiting the Taj Mahal is concerned, to really soak in the monument's different moods, one needs to visit this dream at different times of the day. One visit to the Taj is just not enough as the Taj Mahal changes its look and character with the changing light. Dawn is the miraculous time when this beauty lights up with the morning rays of the sun. With hardly any tourists around, this is a good time to really encapsulate the beauty of the Taj in all peace and quietness. In the afternoon sun, the Taj glitters in white light, and is chockablock with tourists. As the sun sets and evening comes closer, the Taj in all its splendor wears the orange look. The Taj Mahal at night is an unforgettable sight. The white marble is bathed in the soft silver light of the moon and the monument dazzles in the darkness of the sky.
